When targeting brush in the summer how long do y'all spend on one pile? I usually get bites fairly quick if there are feeding fish there but then I try to soak other baits and usually don't come up with much. Is it more efficient to hit as many piles as possible in a day and just make a few casts with a handful of presentations or do y'all have luck with sticking to one spot for hours at a time?

15-20 minutes with two or three different presentations and if no bites, move on to the next area.

I guess it depends on the day but here's my approach. Start far off with crankbait, jig, or worm and then move in with a shake head or drop shot. Most the time the biggest fish is going to bite within 3 cast so I don't spend more than 15-20 minutes a pile. Sometimes one cast and you can tell there's nothing happening. That said, with livescope I have changed a little because I can positively see what's down there or even around there.

I hit each one from 2 or 3 angles. If a fish is there. I’ll catch it. I I don’t get bit in 5-10 minutes, it’s off to the next stop on the milk run. Depending on the lake and the amount of time, I might make the milk run several times throughout the day.

10-15 minutes usually for me. If it's deep enough that I can idle over it and see fish on down imaging, or see them on side imaging I might spend an extra couple minutes. It's helpful in my opinion to do that if you can because if I idle over and they're suspended 5-8 ft above the brush that normally doesn't produce much success for me atleast.

I'm not finding as many piles as I used to, I think some of you have gotten lazy. I need you fish farmers to get back to work

When you line up to a brush pile...how far are you from the brush pile?

I've caught the first fish on my 20th cast to a brush pile before, but that's the exception for me, certainly not the rule. If there are feeding fish on a pile, I seem to get bit in the first 5 casts.

Not any closer than you need to cast past it and drag back thru it.

Might have to fish it more than once, just like punching Hydrilla. Have a milk run and sooner or later they will bite

Depends on the bait.
Crank bait I like to be 50-60’ so that you can throw it out to 100’ and have it at depth in time to hit the top few feet.
Big worm 70-80’ if the pile is not crazy tile usually these are 10’ or more under the water. If the brush is 5’ or less I get closer cause you will have to get the fish out of the pile quick and the closer you are the better you can lean on em.
Drop shot 40-50’ u don’t want to throw the DS to far past the pile or u will get bit and never get the big fish out. You want the bait to land on the furthest edge then slowly work the top of the pile.

With good electronics you can tell if they are in the pile or close by. They don't appear out of thin air. Brush pile fish are never too far away. They somewhere
