Don’t use Ditch Pickle Heads for bait if you fish in Texas. Good way to get a ticket or spend the night at The Crossbar Motel.

MathGeek, you definitely want to check your local regs. I think you may be fishing in Louisiana and if you are, then gamefish are not a legal bait. I know there are some states that allow that but I know Louisiana and Texas don't. Correct me if I'm wrong, just hate to see a guy advertise his own legal demise!

Texas law prohibits Large Mouth Bass and other game fish for being used as bait. I watched your video and it did not give a location where you were fishing. For your sake I hope it was not in Texas waters. Most of the members on this forum fish in Texas waters and your video could be misleading them. I personally agree with what has already been stated. You are simply trying to get a negative response to your video.

I think MathGeek is from Georgia where it is legal to use a legally caught sport fish as bait. TPWD regulations state, "It is unlawful to use any game fish or part of a game fish as bait."

That's one thing I've never understood for TPWD. If I filet a crappie, I have to discard the carcass, and the head. So, it's better suited for the trash can, than on a hook? I get why they do it, so people won't be catching game fish, just for bait. But when reading it, it just sounds ridiculous.

It is pretty absurd. Should be able to use non edible portions of game fish for bait. Lots of states allow it don’t think it is causing problems for them or they’d outlaw it

Always hook a bass head through the lip. If a game warden catches you, just say you were landing the bass and a snapping turtle bit it in two.

Are y'all defending a dumb law or just warning folks about it?
My how to videos are about techniques. Lots of states have stupid laws, and, as always, the angler should know the laws where they are.
