The fishing...as well as the weather...both hot. Had a short day today...fished from a little b4 sun-up until 3 pm. Water temp where I did most of my fishing was mid 90s & we could have used a little breeze today...anyway...ended up with 64 bass & around 25 sunfish. Planned to spend more time fishing for my sunny friends, but the bass bite was on fire so I just went with it. Caught about half on a purple Ned Rig & half on the Tsunami swimbait in olive green color. Most of the bigger fish came on the swimbait. Was catching the vast majority of the bass in 18-25 feet of water & the sunfish were around 5 feet deep. Love this time of year because I have most of the lake to myself...maybe 7 or 8 total boats on the water today & most of that was in the morning... [Linked Image]

Steve, great work! looks like you had some fun yet again. On the swim bait, are you just consistent slow retrieve? Small twitches? Letting it sink all the way to the bottom then reeling it in? Just curious!

Thanks Chuck & Thrash

Stratton...I fish the swimbait petty much like a plastic worm...cast it out & let it sink all the way to the bottom. I usually just do a countdown based on how deep the water is. Then just raise it a little & let it fall back to the bottom...you want it to look like an injured shad that is having trouble swimming off the bottom...easy meal. Here is another trick I use when fishing alone. I have 2 rods that I am fishing...one has a swimbait & the other has a ned rig. Cast one out & let the bait start sinking...cast the other one out & while that one is sinking, then start working the 1st one back. Advantages...you always have a bait in the water on the bottom...you don't have to wait to get a bait in the action zone...Also, I think the longer you just let the bait sit motionless on the bottom the better chance u have...if they have been watching it since it hit bottom then that 1st movement can trigger a strike. That happened a lot yesterday. You always have 2 different baits in the water to see if they have a preference on that day. Hope this helps & good luck out there...

Great job Steve
You sure got FCL figured out. I was chasing crappie in Granger and was able to put a mess in the boat. Taking a mini vacation next week, but I'm looking forward to finding those brim beds this summer.

Thanks Tom...

Zane...For me, the sunfish patterns are way off this year. I am finding colonies in about half of the usual areas of the past few years. Granted, with the bass bite being so good this year I have not searched as hard, but still it appears to be evolving in the wrong direction....
