I finally brought the boat back to the metroplex to fish week days, so over the past couple of weeks I have fished 5-6 times on Lewisville. At this point I feel like I have tried it all with little to no success. Deep, shallow, structure, standing timber, submerged timber, bridge pillars, minnows, big jigs, small jigs, etc. I am having a hard time even locating good habitat let alone fish with the graph on the east/southeast part of the lake. Am I spoiled at Fork, wasting my time, or just fighting through learning a new lake? At this point I am ready to start chasing sandies just to be able to bring some meat home to the wife, so advice is much appreciated and will help with my embarrassment coming though the backdoor at night!

As a crappie guide on Lewisville, you are spoiled at Fork. Lewisville is not nor never will be Fork. There are good fish to be caught in LEW but they act different and IMO aren't as plentiful as they used to be. You are on the right sides of the lake and you better have some minnows on hand if you want to do any good on LEW in the summer. Brush, rock and wood in 10-18 ft has been where I have been finding them.

i think you would do better to drive to ray bob or Lavon if you don't want to make the drive to fork. lewisville aint what it used to be. the lake is two feet high and the gates are open. gates open seems to be the kiss of death on that lake for crappie fishing!

Makes me feel like I have an excuse now hah. I have been looking into going up there but the boat is stored on LEW so for week nights after work its the only reasonable option. Thanks for the tips, I'll keep an eye on the gates from now on.

Back in the early 2000's we used to tear them up on Lewisville every weekend almost. No huge ones like fork but kept my freezer stocked and lots of limits. Lewisville doesnt fish like it did back then. I live 1/2 mile from a free boat ramp on lewisville and I choose to drive to any other lake to catch them when I go. That should tell you something. Good luck and find another lake imo.

It’s certainly not at limits lake. We do pretty well though. You really need to be focusing on brush piles right now in 18 to 24 foot. Minners out perform jigs this time of the year.
