I use one, love it. Great for 3/4oz and 1oz, ive even used it on 1/2oz and it works just fine but its best at the higher weights

Sure it is but then again it isn't. Take a glass cranking rod and a carbon flipping stick. Both can be the same length and power rating but are used for very different applications.

I'm with you...in theory is should be the same I'm guessing. I'll tell you it doesn't feel the same to me with that added length. I do love the rod for throwing heavier weights as said above.

Who uses anything less than a 1oz on C-Rigs. I throw the 1oz from dirt deep to as deep as you wanna fish. They smoke it in shallow water.

I use and love the Dobyns 804c Carolina Rig Rod for slinging a long leader and a 1 oz. weight! I also use it as a punching rod when using heavy weights. I generally always Carolina Rig with a 1 oz. weight whether I'm in 1" to 30" deep unless there’s a lot of junk on the bottom. In the case of flooded or emergent vegetation, strewed wood or other junk I'll lighten my weights and I like the Dobyns Extreme 784 for that. I used to use the 784 all the time with the heavier weights on the C-Rig and it works great. The 804c to me is just a better choice for a dedicated 1 oz. C-Rig rod. If you aren't looking to have a dedicated heavy C-Rig rod the 784 may be a better choice as it is a little more versatile. The 784 is absolutely the best flutter spoon rod I have ever used, and it is my choice for heavy shaky heads and t-rigs in deeper water.

If I wrote a post on this it would say the same thing as Bsouth. I bet if I spell this right Pake would say the same thing.

I will add this also. When we first got my 804c I was fishing a lot on fork with Mr Boudreaux and we did a lot of c-rig fishing in the summer we got to we’re we would take 20# fluorocarbon with a 15# Florocarbon leader and a 4’ leader on this set up. We would fine deep drop offs with a ledge about 25-28’ with big trees. The fish would be about 15-20 feet down on the trees. We threw the rig over the trees and use the trees to pull the bait back up to fish depth and just shake. We were catching 5-8# bass. The fish would hit the lure and you had to set the hook and turn the fish up before they could get you in the trees. The 804c is by far the best rod for this technique to turn those fish and sensitive enough to feel the bite to be able to turn those fish. We would catch anywhere between 20-50 fish 🐟 n those days and with the 804 we lost very few fish

I don't have the 804c, but I do have the 764c. It does feel like a broomstick in hand, but it loads up nicely while casting and is very sensitive. Great rod for carolina rigging. I have three 784s and much prefer carolina rigging on the 764.
