Lots of retirees from the baby boomers, and a birth rate ratio lower than 2 from their generation, has an impact on society, and y’all aren’t going to like to hear this but a low immigration rate hurts as well, we are almost near the employment levels pre pandemic, solution is immigration, just do it legally.

No!!! We don’t want immigrants earning minimum wage! We want to bitch about the help wanted signs as we retire! If we can’t complain about that…then we still got gun laws and gas prices.

We use CVS on HY-80 and High Street and there is a new crew of folks at the counter every few weeks and about half as many. There also seems to be a different pharmacist there every time I go in, expect for the one from Nigeria that has been there for a long time. Great guy but I bet he is putting in 60 to 70 hours a week as he is there every time in go in there.
The waiting time for service just keeps getting longer and longer. I just moved all of our maintenance meds, to CVS Caremark mail order. I prefer to shop local, but tired of the long lines and no one working.

That’s the one

There used to be a blue law in Texas back in the 80's. Everything except grocery stores and gas stations were closed.

Restaurants were open
Hotels/Motels were open
Movie theaters were open
Beer stores were open, after 12:00PM

Grocery stores were open also you just couldn’t sell certain items-
It really made zero sense-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

You both are right. I went back and looked it up. it started in 1961 and ended in 85. there were 42 items designated that were non-sellable on Sundays. Some of those are still in effect according to google.

When I worked at Piggly Wiggly in early to mid 70's, we had to put plastic sheeting over a whole isle of stuff that couldn't be sold on Sunday.
Mostly non-food type stuff.

Good luck!

Another factor might be people like one of my nieces. She got her degree to be a pharmacist, worked as one for maybe 3 years. Got pregnant, had a special needs baby and has spent the rest of her life as a full time mother. Not sure how common or rare that is, but that is 1 pharmacist out of the working force. How many shut-in babies were born because of Covid. I haven't seen any of those numbers. Could be another workforce labor boom in 18-20 years.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!
