Gentlemen, lets just take a deep breath and relax a minute. As 2 of my favorite opinionated participants here in an otherwise boring OT, I don't want to see you guys feuding and come to blows and then end up on the WOS. I would have no reason to come back here and read.

I'm pretty sure he'd say the same thing about you.

I have no beef with electric cars, but they are not the whole answer. There is a lot of work to do before we can rely on an all electric car base, maybe never. Until then, buy what you want, but we need choices.

Or politicians and big business have us all right where they want us. GM introduced the EV1 in 1996. A few years later, they were removed from the market and even the people who really loved them and wanted to keep the car were not allowed to. Here's a car that needs no oil change, no gas and requires very little maintenance. It also has 10% of the moving parts of its ICE counterparts.

So who is upset? All the vendors for ICE vehicles, big oil money, vehicle repair shops, and the list goes on. Then you factor in they are selling a vehicle that will go 10+ years with almost no maintenance. Car flipping every 3-5 years turns into every 6-12 years and dealer service centers would be a fraction of what they are today.

Oops, we made a big mistake. Let's get the EVs all back and forget this idea.

New guy comes along and against all odds starts an EV company that somehow grabs a foothold and a few years later becomes the most valuable car company in the world. Now every auto manufacturer is making an EV.

Before we turn the EV into some conspiracy of government control, step back and look again.

I’ve learned not to bet against technology, i.e., smartphones, home computing power, GPS, 3D printing, DNA testing etc.

The views spouted by old white men who are so intolerant of new technology that it feels to me, that they are my grandparents’ views… out of touch, ill informed and just plain ignorant

Making this a racial issue? Seriously? Because old black people love technology? This is a new low for you.

At this point, electric isn't great for road trips. It's fantastic for daily commuting.

I have a Camry hybrid that's fantastic for both. Electric will eventually be the likely replacement for gas for the vast majority of drivers. But we're a long ways from that.

I'm wondering how many sub contractors will show up in electric vehicles? Guessing none!

Here’s the angle nobody has ripped the bandage off.

40% of the population rents. So what trickery are these people going to use to power their magic carpets? A suburban commuter comes home to charge their magic carpets? I see a major over reach to jam that through.

I just finished inputting my cost for the day. My trucks drove a total of 294 miles, moved 74,238 pounds of cattle to three different locations. They moved 15,000 of hay and were running while all sorts of mundane task were being performed. All of this was done burning a grand total of 17.49 gallons of diesel. for a total cost of $71.61. The day any kind of alternative transportation can best that sign me up, I'm pretty sure by the time that day comes I'll be long gone. Oh and for you diesel haters I don't use enough DEF to make it worth my time to keep tabs on.

It ain’t like y’all driving 16 hours a day…every day. So once a year, when you DO DRIVE on a vacation, plan it a little better. 400 mile range(minimum) on a truck would get me to 99% of the lakes I fish.. and back home with distance to spare.

I don’t want a full electric car, but if I had one, I’d bet it wouldn’t be that bad.

There is no car the gets that mileage, especially with air conditioning on and multiple passengers.

Who cares? I, AND MOST OF YALL, will be dead and buried…our kids will be selling our fishing [censored] in a garage sale before it ever happens where ya can’t buy gas for our trucks. Lol. Y’all whine about the dumbest [censored] ever. I’m guilty too.

Again. Who cares. It’s our kids problems.

I'm not dead and buried now and Democrats and their global warming fanatic allies have pushed the price of fuel to the point that it is costing me hundreds of dollars per month. That's in fuel cost and the cost of everything else because of the worst inflation in decades...caused in large part by higher fuel/transportation costs.

If someone was taking $500-$1,000 out of your wallet every month would you laugh and say it's no big deal, "stupid" to get upset about it? Because that's what is happening.
