Casting Jigs to Collecting Mangos! And Tahitian Dancing Too!
Another day at Chocolate Beach on a family Saturday. I was testing out my Guide Select Pro's limitations by Okuma. 9'9" rated up to 1oz. Handles 1oz easily, even 1-1/4oz. 1-1/2oz was stretching it. All my Guide Select Pro's can easily go roughly 10% above rated recommendations. Most rods i've field tested can. There was only 2 exceptions over the years as they busted at only 50% of their rated max rating (no, wasn't an Okuma).
Tide was extremely low this morning so wasn't expecting any catches. I actually came to collect free mangos from some trees that i've known about. I also know of some Lychee trees but their season is very quick. Some big greenies up there! Did find one big one that was bigger than my fist. Maybe 4 that are going to be eaten today.
A local Tahitian Dance group was practicing next to the parking lot today. I asked one of them if i could tape it & he said "no problem Scuba Chris". Almost everyone i bumped into today knew me as this has been one of my product testing spot for many years.
