So everything is slowing down a bit...Fewer reports on the forum...way less trucks in the lake parking lot...starting to have the lake to myself in the afternoons. Some like it hot...that would be me. Actually got rained on today from 11:30 - 12:10, but no big deal. Water temps starting to get up in that 90 degree range and the lake is totally full. Was planning to meet Doc today on the water but he wasn't feeling up to par so just fished solo. Alan (Choclabdog) had to work today, but will be ripping some lips tomorrow. Fished from daybreak until 5 pm & split the day about 50/50 between Sunfish & Bass. Ended up with around 40 bass & 50 sunfish plus my 1st Rio of the year. The bass were semi shallow in the morning & pretty deep in the afternoon. Got some pretty big ones today with the biggest going 6.02 lbs. The sunfish are only showing up in around 50% of the places they were last year ?? Not sure what's going on...anyway all fish released to fight another day. Bass were caught on swimbaits & the sunfish on the old trust Gulp Alive 1" minnows...

Side Note: I will be posting very soon. Creek fishing has been HOT as in catching and temperatures! Just think technically the first day of summer is June 21.

I see you caught a couple more bigguns after we texted. Great day ! Wished we could have been on the lake like we had planned. Just check the forecast and MORE dog days coming next week for that pretty little lake over by La Grange —- Glad YOU like it Hot !!!

Geez man! What I would give for one day of this production...Love it Steve. Me and dad got out there last Saturday for the first half of the day and only boated one fish from a top water frog in the AM. Tried a few spots but nothing unfortunately. Trying to find them off shore is so intimidating to me. What swim bait do you catch the bass on?

Bill...Yes... I do catch a few under the slot...but not that many.
Stratton...I spent some time trying to locate sunfish in the reeds yesterday. What I observed was that the reeds I was fishing was full of bass. I accidentally hooked one on my little Gulp Alive & it broke me off without even trying. They were also very active inside the reeds chasing something. So if you don't like offshore, try getting IN the reeds pitching jigs or swimbaits. A while back I watched 3 teenagers go in the reeds a just wore them out...It's a little too much work for me, but can be very productive...

Of the five spots I have, only one was producing last year and the beds are smaller. I believe those big bass are decreasing the brim population.
