Heading to Canyon Lake for the first time. Not to fish, just family fun with the boat. Any hazards on the lake or anything I need to know? Water looks amazing from what I can tell.

Keep on Keeping On.

On the hottest days of summer, we take the boat to Canyon. Put out submerged floating recliners, enjoy an adult beverage, and see how long we can stay in the water before we freeze to death! It's amazingly cold, there are a couple of Islands to hang out around. Water is very clear (for Texas), and very deep. Not many submerged hazards I've ever found.
Better place to play in the water than fish IMHO.

There are actually many live oak trees under the water in different areas of the lake. It’s more hazardous than one would think by just looking at the surface.

The point that is between Potters Creek and ramp #23 on the right hand side reaches out a good ways.
When traveling towards the mouth of the river, swing left towards Cranes Mill more than you normally would. I'd say at least 150 - 200 yards from the shoreline.

Just to the E-NE of those two islands in the middle of the lake is a shallow area that is hard to see until you are almost on top of it. There are a FEW things growing on it that sticks out of the water to let you know where it is. So be careful around those islands.

You are more apt to get run over by other boaters that aren't paying attention or the jet fleas.
Be careful, you'll understand what I'm saying after a while.

Just one more cast!
