I have never been lucky...EVER! However, earlier this week on a whim, I bought some raffle tickets for a 4 day trip to Red River, NM...tonight I won TWO of the five trips!!!!! The dude called me and was so excited! I just watched the drawing on Facebook. I'm still shocked! I'm taking my best friend for one of the trips. I figure it'll do him some good! I CANNOT FREAKING BELIEVE I WON! Made my YEAR! I'm really not bragging....I'm just so freaking shocked! Last contest I entered and won, I didn't actually win. I entered my friend's name for some Cowboy's tickets in August 1993...and she won, but didn't want to go, so she gave me the tickets. It was a pre-season game, but still, very cool experience!

I had a co-worker bug me to buy a $20 ticket for a womans program drawing , I gave her the money , she gives me the ticket . Totally forgot I did it . 6 weeks later I get a random call and this lady says I have won their Beverly Hills Grand Prize . She's all excited on the phone . She asks me if I have a truck ? I said yes . I ended up going to the Fairmont Hotel and they load up $20K in merch . Dresses , scarfs , watches , spa days , some jewelry . They made me sign a document for tax purposes . I call my tax guy and tell him that most of it was " over priced " for it's actual value on the tax document --- he strongly advises me to give it all away , or pay 35-40% taxes on the value . Ended up giving it all away .Never bought another raffle ticket again .

Red River is a great town to visit in the summer. Always lots of activities.

And, if you're there in July and August you can always see one of my old friends, Michael Martin Murphey, at one of the outdoor concerts he does there every year.
