I fished for a few hours off of the bank on the southeast corner of the lake. I accessed from Ridgepointe Park in the Colony. This was in the middle of the day, clear skies, and probably around 80 degrees. I fished on the bottom with live Shad.

I caught 6 keeper catfish (blues and channel). I caught 1 small Gou (freshwater drum). I didn't have a scale, but 3 were 21+ inches long.

It's really shallow there, so I found a point and walked out to about waist deep and cast out pretty far.

I've caught bass (largemouth and sandbass) in that same spot, but there's no cover or any structure, so might not be a great place to catch bass consistently. I like it because it's the absolute closest place for me to access the lake (less than 5 miles). More times than not (51%) I catch something there, so that's enough to keep me going back.

That day was the best I've had in that spot, so I'm convinced, of course, that I figured something out. Lol. Probably more luck than skill.

By the way, I started trying to learn Spanish, and I met a few other fisherman out there, and they spoke Spanish. Well, my beginner Spanish (Duolingo) has not covered any fishing terms. Any Spanish speakers out there want to share some fishing terms?

I know "catfish" is "bagre", and I also knew enough to say, "bien suerte (good luck)" when I was leaving. Any help would be much appreciated.

Can't help with the Spanish, but I have used Google in the past to translate what I wanted to say to a fellow fisherman in spanish. You can say what you want in English, then Google will translate. It has a button for the speaker so it will say it out loud for whomever you are conversing with to hear. It will do the same when they speak back to you.

When bank fishing, points always seem to be the prime location. Especially when it is windy. All sorts of fish will cruise across points to find food then escape back to deeper waters.

Congrats on your catch!!

I used to fish at the old dam, couple years back, sold my bass boat, sold my kayak, so I knew old dam was a good spot from fishing there in my boat. I would go to the shore or LE park, throw my cast net, grab some shad, have bait all day, only a couple cats came out of it tho, but i loved the spot, but working on getting my Canoe setup for some fishing, Bank fishing is tough. But its peaceful and serene, bad day on the lake, is better than a good day anywhere else.

Lol. Not sure that's a fishing term, although I did have a bass spit my spinner bait back out at me, and in my head I did say, "Cabron! No Mames!"

Does anyone know of any good bank fishing spots for Lake Lewisville near the southwest side in Corinth/Highland Village or Lake Dallas area?

My favorite spot is the old dam for Lewisville. I will typically fish it late at night or super early before all the boat traffic kicks up.
