Hey Guys!

New to the forum. I’ve got some family coming into town and they want to do some catfishing on Lake Travis. What should I use for bait? Also, any recommendations on areas? Any help would be appreciated! Our boats at Hurst Harbor

Man i can't help you with lake Travis at all. As far a bait goes, if you're just wanting to catch a bunch of fish, I'd go with shad if you've got a cast net. If not, you might try a store bought prepared bait. Stubby's would be my recommendation. It's not store bought but it's probably the best. You could also try shrimp or better yet, catch you some bluegill with worms or crickets and cut that up. I would fish either a shallow, rocky shoreline or way up in the back of a feeder creek around some brush. Good luck!

Don't know the lake but look for mid depth areas (20 to 25 feet) with structure near. Bottom Contours, Trees, Rocks, etc. Look for areas like this with shallows close by and areas that have had the wind blowing into them (South facing shore lines)

Fish are on the spawn so watch for the ones full of eggs and make sure they go back to spawn...
