A couple of days ago I treated a couple of small web worm areas with insecticide on my 25' pecan tree. A few minutes ago, I went out and looked and found 5 more areas that need treated. Seems like they are starting up kind of early.

Put out a card of trichogramma wasp eggs. They love to eat webworms.

I would use my power washer to destroy the webbing. Birds love web worms. Once the webbing is gone, they have no defense.

These are not anomalies. They are very common on pecan trees. Last year we seemed to get hit harder than normal. Also last year, my neighbor was gone for much of the summer and his pecan trees got out of control. This year is also the first year I have ever seen the white moth that lays the eggs. I'm going to try to stay on top of it this year as best as I can.

My fruitless mulberry gets them ever year. Malathion works well. Spray the ground too.

I thought Malathion was taken off the market.
