Tackle Warehouse has a sale today so I'm going to try and finally order a jig specific rod (3/8, 1/2, maybe some 3/4 oz football jigs - just something that is a great all around jig fishing rod).

I've come down to two choices:

Dobyn's DX 784C

Falcon Cara Amistad

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

I have both. the amistad would be a better for jig fishing shallow cover it’s got a tad more backbone. 784 is hands down a 3/4 ounce football dragging machine. The amistad will double great for frogs heavy spinner baits swim jigs flipping. The 784 will do any bottom contact well. C rig trig big shakeys and footballs. You’re buying a rod for football jigs I’d go 784 hands down.

Awesome thanks for the report. I think the 784 is the way to go.

I have a 784 Champion Extreme HP. Pretty much just use it for C-Rigs and A-Rigs.

The Cara Amistad fishes more like a XXH rod. It’s a good c rig rod, but kinda cantankerous for jig duty. I like the 7’0” Lizzard Dragger for jigs and heavier t rig. It is a H/F rod that is very light and easy to flip and skip jigs with.

Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I’ve already got a Dobyns rod very similar to the Lizzard Dragger that I use for Texas rigs. I could use that rod for jigs but I’d like a dedicated rod for it.
