Even though I'm a coastal saltwater fisherman, I enjoy your videos, especially the Brazos ones below the dam at Whitney. Your videos from the creek (Yegua?) remind me of why I moved back to the Coast seven years ago. I lived in the Caribbean for 25 years, and I HATE muddy water! I'm trying to re-learn to flyfish after a 60-year hiatus, and I learn from your videos every time I watch one. I even learned from your snake-in-the-toilet video. I used a snare similar to yours when I lobster fished. If I was closer, I'd come fish with you and learn a lot. Keep entertaining us, WBT! IslandJim

With the heat of summer upon us the powerplant at the Whitney dam is running daily which should set up a regular feeding pattern for the stripers and whitebass as they move upstream into the fast moving water. I can see by the gauge down at The Outpost @ FM2114 (8 miles downstream of the dam) that the levels climb to a peak about 5AM and then steadily fall back down all day. I assume they are starting to generate sometime after sunset and stop just after sunrise.. and I suspect this pattern reflects the drop in solar and wind power production. see the gauge data here:

Enjoyed the video. You are 100 percent right about your fish location. They love hanging out by drop offs, especially in grass beds. thumb

Made a quick midday trip up to the Brazos below Whitney Tuesday. First time back since they have been running power nightly for a week or so. Fishing was good wind was bad. The river is in great shape for fishing with a flush of cool clear water nightly that cleans the river of loose vegetation. The fish appear to still be in the upper sections early morning as the water level drops back down after generation stops. We are planning a trip this Friday and bringing the yaks.. Report shortly after wink

Cool clear river... HOT steamy days..

see the photo/video section for the fishtales video

Do yourself a favor and wet wade the river to keep cooler and not die..
