I have a small 12ft plastic Jon boat with a 2.5 Merc and a trolling motor on it. I'm looking for small places to fish in east Texas, and specifically say within an hour of Lindale? I realize I can fish coves off of larger lakes like Fork, but I'd like to try some smaller fisheries first. I am very familiar with Tyler State Park and most other state parks. Anything else?

Winnsboro- put in at the back ramp or off the side of the road. Holbrook has a ramp at the back as well.

I would hit Mill Creek and Gilmer. Gilmer is laid out well to avoid North or south winds. Also, no one mentions it anymore, but I'd check Purtis Creek just to see how it's doing

Lone Star Lake
Monticello (if you can get the boat in off the bridge like the Kayakers do)
