Officially ran out of my $2 clearance spools of slick 8 i got from walmart 5 years ago and about to order a bulk spool to replace all the line on my reels. Super big fan of slick 8 because i thought it was on the thinner side...but just noticed 30# Slick 8 and 832 are pretty much the same specs! 832 will save me a little money too! wondering what you all think about the 2 lines.

I’ve tried pretty much all the braids out there and Suffix is the only one I use any more.

Braid is braid,,,unless you fish grass, then don’t get the super slick or the 8 carrier stuff. The the 4 carrier (cheaper) stuff will cut grass better.

I prefer slick 8 to 832 for most applications; and it’s not close.
832 is stiffer/more wiry and tends to dig into the spool easier.
Slick 8 is softer/more supple, quieter, and smoother through the guides.
832 will tie a very good line to line knot—really digs into the leader. It also slices vegetation really well
I’d be happy using 832 for frogs and flipping around thick grass and pads.

832 is my go to. Just got a 1200 yd spool of 30#. Primarily put it on saltwater reels. Usually fish mono in freshwater except for a few baits, frogs and chatterbaits.
Lots of good braids out there.

Well sort of. I was looking for hi viz at academy this morning before ordering. They only had the h20 express brand Pro Cat braid in hi viz. Figured that may be taking braid is braid too far.

I have used Suffix 832 and couple of other braids and have settled on Berkley X5. It casts really well and doesn't wind knot as bad as Suffix. Academy has the low viz green version but I like the flame green version for soft plastics. Amazon has the flame green color, about $15/164 yd spool.

I went with ghost 832. I dont need 1500 yards...but need more than 300 so wasnt looikng forward to spending the $200 on the slick 8 (the braid on my current reels is over 5 years old), and didnt like the 300 yd was the only other bigger option. Decided to give it a try since it seems like a good braid...just hope its not the exact same as regular power pro.
I agree about the softness of the slick 8 and thats my only worry.
But...i use my braid as sort of backing. i run about 85-90% braid and a super long "leader" of FC. I started comparing and its similar size to regular power pro too...so kinda worried itll be like regular power pro. We'll see.
Thanks for the replies!

Been using 832 for several years absolutely no issues. Spinning and on several bait casters
I spend most of my time fishing the rest I just waste
