If you want assurance throw those little piece of [censored] D cell aerators away and get you one of these. No one makes a D Cell aerator that will last and they don't put out enough air in the summer, get you one of these and never look back. [Linked Image]

We use the 12v double bubbler on our fish in the livewell! I like the idea of the rechargable aquarium bubbler. With the price of D batteries it's a wash to try and keep minnows alive overnight. Burn $5 in batteries or kill $5 in minnows not running the bubbler. hammer

I've got one of those that plugs into 110V. It puts too much air in and causes foam.

I'm in AR now and minnows are 30 miles away. The D cells are doing the best job at this time. I'm trying to find out how often I need to change out the batteries so I don't lose the minnows.

I don't know about the Engel bubbler cause I made my own minnow bucket but the Mr Bubbles bubbler will run about 2 days on 2 D batteries.

Rojo-I run an engel 13 qt when I got minnows. I've had it about 2 or 3 years. It's been great!! (It was a gift, but after owning this one -I'd buy another in a heartbeat)
I'm on my second, maybe third set of D batteries -they last a lonnnnnng time. Mine does not foam either!! The engel does a great job insulating but I do recommend dropping a little ice in it so it's insulating cold water! roflmao
The cold water will help your minnows retain oxygen too. I'm sure you know all this....also change the water out if you got alot for awhile in there. The ammonia from feces will kill your minnows too.

forgot to say-I had a couple of instances where I had minnows overnight. The batteries were fine and then some.

You have to use a water treatment if you do this or it will kill your minnows.

Thanks for all the hints/suggestions. This is like trying to keep shad alive and without a red nose when I was hybrid fishing. LOL

I have the Engel. The batteries last for days and days. Keep it in the shade it will keep them alive in middle of summer for days. I made several weekend trips last summer where it ran over night, and the batteries lasted through multiple trips.

I freeze small soda bottles filled with water and drop them in. I have a Magellan cooler which is a Engel knockoff sold at Academy. I run a 12 volt aerator or 2 D cell batteries and they will keep minnows for a weekend.
