No….. not your wife. ……. C-rigs. Tell me about your setup please. Tungsten or lead? Pre/made or put it together yourself? Beads? Clackers? Do you use Carolina keepers? What shape weights do you use? What hasn’t worked well? Tell me everything. I’m trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks

I drag a lot through rocks and often snag.

Therefore I try not to use tungsten, although I'd prefer to use tungsten.

Instead I started buying steel barrel weights. I get the sensitivity of tungsten at a cheaper price, and the larger sizes don't get wedged in between the rocks as often as when I use tungsten.

If dragging road beds, or the edges of grass beds, or brush piles, I use the smallest tungsten weight I can get away with.

I will use clackers if water is muddy or heavily stained. I prefer my line to free flow through the weight so that there is as little resistance to the fish as possible.

Falcon Lizard Dragger or Heavy Cover Jig Rod
50# Power Pro braid main line
Connected via Spro Power Swivel size 8/50# or 6/80#
15# Big Game leader (typically about 3' length)
3/4 or 1 oz. bullet, egg or barrel weight. Lead, Brass or Tungsten. I'll use lead if I think I am going to get hung up and bread off a lot. Otherwise, Tungsten barrel would be my preference nowadays.
I go back and forth on clackers, beads or none. I would not use glass beads with tungsten.
Baits, I like either a baby brush hog or rattlesnake / ring fry / bubble fry type bait most of the time.

Haven’t gone deep with one in quite some time but still like them shallow……used to do well on Fork over hydrilla (hence the ‘used to’) with 3/8-1/2 oz. lead weight, (lead so bulk wouldn’t sink too far in), 2-3 ft. leader, 2.0 hook and a pumpkinseed creature bait, 10” power worm and larger hook at night. Last weekend while watching the Elites I though that same rig with a white Fluke could have done well for those still shallow.

I prefer tungsten but the submerged cedar by me loves to eat them so I use lead, anywhere from 1/4-3/4oz with 40# braid and 15# mono leader between 18-24". Preferred baits are zoom lizards and flukes.

I'm about to break that out, probably at the SOT. I just run old school, usually a 3/4 ounce lead weight, a red bead, a swivel and what ever size hook I need to go with the plastic at the end on a 2 to 3 foot leader.

Dobyns 804C FH XP
Daiwa Tatula 150 7.3:1
Sunline Super FC Sniper 18#
1 ounce (10' or deeper) or 1/2 ounce tungsten (10' or shallower). I don't fish much rock, so I usually worry about tungsten getting hung up.
Eagle Claw 6mm Bead
Top Brass Tackle Carolina Ticker
6th Sense Peg Stopper
Spro Power Swivel Size 8
Berkley Big Game 15# leader, 18" - 24"
VMC Wide Gap 4/0
Zoom Super Fluke in a bluegill-ish color

Find bream beads on you side imagining. It's a good time to be fishing around bream beads. They're usually a much bigger target to hit than say trying to hit a brush pile. I wanted bites to build confidence and started there, before moving deeper and targeting isolated brush piles.

Mark Pack showed me how to C-Rig years ago and now it's one of my favorite ways to fish.
I use a Dobyns 804C. Carolina riggin special rod with Shimano Antares 7.4 reel.
20lb. Seaguar Abrazx floro. 2 Carolina keepers and a one ounce Joy Tungston weight.
This is an awesome setup.
Does not matter if it's 3' or 30' I throw it everywhere and it catches pigs.

Dobyns Siera 734, 3/8 tungsten weight, clacker, swivel and about a 16 inch leader. PLine CXX 15# main line and PLine CXX 12# leader, 3/0 Owner rigging hook Daiwa tatula 7.1-1 reel.
Dobysn Xtacy 755 1/2 tungsten weight, clacker, swivel and a 2ft leader. Invizx 17# main line, 15# In invizx leader Lews BB1 Pro 7-1-1 3/0 Owner J Hook.

I am thinking about switching out the tungsten weights to lead egg sinkers instead.

1 OZ egg sinker, bead, swivel, 17 lb floro main, 15 lb mono leader. Usually a 3/0 hook with either a fluke or bubble fry. I catch more on this than any other technique.

Far from an expert.. but I use a Falcon Jason Christie Worm dragger, 30lb Suffix 832 Braid, 1/2oz bullet lead weight, orange bead, spro swivel, 12lb Stren low viz green mono leader, Gamakatzu 3/0 offset hook. Per Frank Scallish, he likes a a short leader 18--24" so that is what I have been using. Has worked pretty well for me. no giants yet but have caught fish with it.

I listed 3 different ones that I have set up,,,but you don't need that, I am a tackle nut.

If I had only one set up it would be a Dobyns 784 Champion or the Dobyns Xtacy 755 with 17# test fluorocarbon main line and 15# test PLine CXX, with a 3/4 oz. lead egg sinker, clacker, swivel and a 3/0 Owner rigging hook.

The clackers I use are designed to help protect the knot from being banged on all the time by the weight. I don't know if it matters, but that is how I rig mine.
