As there was discussion about a certain organization recently and one of the issues is not weighing in fish in a timely and responsible manner. If the elites can determine a tourney with a different scale in every boat wouldnt it be reasonable for a tourney that's gonna have 300 plus entries in which every team is gonna weigh in every little rat bag to have 2 weigh in lines with 2 scales to make it go twice as fast ? This doesnt seem unreasonable as an idea to move train wrecks along. I wouldn’t care unless I was on fork or a lake where 9.98 mattered over 9.87. I think common sense could help a lot. Have two scales on big lakes and let the boys who obviously have 12.0 go to on side and the ones with 20+ go to the other??

I don't see a problem with 2 scales. What do they do if the scale breaks as it stands now? Surely they have a backup scale standing by.

Kinda like a steak and beans dinner at a sales meeting. The salesmen who made their quota get a steak, the ones who didn't get a bowl of beans. The big bags go to the stage with music blasting, lights, cameras, strippers etc.. the garbage bags go to a fold out table in the rear with a a crusty old man who shames them as them weigh in their rats. I bet they could find an old man willing to do that.

I think a better option would be giving them incentive to not way their small bags like some tourneys do. If you don't have enough fish to place you dump them and get thrown in a pot for drawings.

back in late 80's,Operation Bass (Redman/BFL) decided to combine their Alabama and Georgia divisions and have one tournament on Eufaula.....we had probably 350 entries and they had two scales set up at weigh-in....it sure helped speed things up and i never heard any complaints about the weights being possibly different but there was some complaints about the large number of entries making the launch and loading times too long plus the lake was really crowded with this tourny and several club tournys going on....they never combined two divisions into one tourny again that I'm aware of....

One scale per 100 entries sounds about right. So, if 300 entries, three scales.

These are all some good ideas but. It is more than just scales. It is 3 complete set ups. Trailers, tanks, tents, crews, etc… about $70,000 each ,plus the crews to run them.
As mentioned we are meeting in a few weeks and this will be the hot topic I promise. In the meantime keep throwing ideas out. We are reading them all.

SETX does this but they also have 500 boat fields. I know we are at 300+ in a Regional and State. Most at a regular season event is around 200-250 in 3 out of 9 divisions. The other 6 are under 200. We have also split the divisions (2022-2023 )up with larger teams and put them in a different division to try and bring the smaller divisions up in size and the larger ones down to under 200. I think a better option would be giving them incentive to not way their small bags like some tourneys do. If you don't have enough fish to place you dump them and get thrown in a pot for drawings.

And obvious way to limit some smaller bags and number of fish in line would also be to increase minimum size to 16 inches. That cost nothing.

Dont let perfect be the enemy of better.

As mentioned we are meeting in a few weeks and this will be the hot topic I promise. In the meantime keep throwing ideas out. We are reading them all. Why the need to be so extravagant? Why not just purchase a few more weigh tanks and another scale and call it good? Buy a fold-out table to put the scales on. There is no need to make it like the Bassmasters Classic. These are HS kids. See this is where the direction of the sport is beginning to take a wrong turn. Most of the kids have probably never fished a club tournament where the scales were put on the back of somebody's tailgate and that is sad. The need to make everyone feel special should be replaced by common sense. People tend to overthink things too much.

Agree, half the problem with kids is they have been conditioned to think the world stops turning for them.
