As there was discussion about a certain organization recently and one of the issues is not weighing in fish in a timely and responsible manner. If the elites can determine a tourney with a different scale in every boat wouldnt it be reasonable for a tourney that's gonna have 300 plus entries in which every team is gonna weigh in every little rat bag to have 2 weigh in lines with 2 scales to make it go twice as fast ? This doesnt seem unreasonable as an idea to move train wrecks along.

I'm intrigued by the kayak guys and how they do it. I would find a way to incorporate a scale to have weight be the determining factor.

If both scales are certified and calibrated, then 20lbs is 20lbs right. Only issue I see is you don't have two tournament directors or MC's to call out the weights. I think it's more of a people issue than an equipment issue.

It would only be a matter of time before someone threw a fit.

So the mlf and elites can award big money based on 50, 60, 80 different scales but for peanuts you have to use 1..... makes absolutely no sense

While I agree it's totally practical to have more than one machine weighing fish at some of these mega-events I think the directors would take an absolute beating from folks who would argue the machines or the scale operators aren't consistent.

Your right the technology is not there yet. The question is how do you police it.

The point that you are missing is that they have a dedicated person weighing in the fish in each boat.
I suppose it would work if you put an approved unbiased weigh in official in each boat and distribute the certified scales at take off the morning of the derby, and then the scales must be turned in and checked in at weigh in.

I'm just talking about 2 scales at the weigh in to make the lines go twice as fast, not the mlf format. And really only 1 organization needs to consider this and I didnt miss your point, you failed reading evidently

Am i misreading original post . I thought he meant 2 scales 1 for the under size bags ( my line) and one for the larger bags ( that way all money bag are weighted on same scale)which could work great except on slot lakes .

I like the idea of an MLF style of catch, weigh, and release at all levels of tournament fishing, but I think you'd have to put some sort of safeguards in place to ensure that a marshal and a contestant don't decide to fatten the weights either physically or electronically and spit the winnings they collect afterwards. Unfortunately, there are people out there that would do this and not even blink, even though a huge majority of us wouldn't. Big money unfortunately attracts greed and evil. Polygraph?
