Went out to Meredith early this morning hoping to get into some slabs, crappie or walleye out of the float tube. The weather forecast wasn't good but it showed a small window of low winds. it was wrong. Way too windy for the tube but I was already at the lake. I always have catfish eqpt in the truck so I broke it out and did some bank fishing. Only had about 2 hrs to fish because I have a unit function for my NJROTC class this afternoon.

The fish were really on a roll. Brought 10 or so to the bank and kept 6 for the fryer that went from about a 1 1/2 pounds to about 2 1/2. Don't they look tasty?

Man, I haven't fished Meredith in 40 years. The last time I even heard anything was that it was about to dry up! Growing up in Amarillo, I used to fish it with my uncle. We would catch limits of walleye and catfish trolling across points with a crawler harness. Our rigs would have a colorado blade instead of the ones shown below.

I was surprised at how many catfish we would catch trolling because we would troll pretty fast. The walleye would just hammer those rigs when you got the speed just right. I can't remember the last time I heard a report from there, especially on this forum! Great job on the channel cats. I've had to opt for bank fishing a few times this year because of the wind. I know you have to deal with it more than we do because of where your at!
