Guessing 90 mortality rate but hey the 8-10% that live got a shot to be good ones. At least the genetics will get in there

Fingerlings are 30 days old.. Plus or minus and are appx 2" long..

I wonder why they dont let them get larger than fingerlings ? Seems like larger fish would have a better survival rate.

I’d guess it has to do with the development of their hunting skills. If they spend too long in a tank being fed by humans, they don’t learn how to hunt in the real world. Once they get fingerling size, their predator instincts start kicking in.
