I was recently pulled over by TX DPS. The trooper told me I had a headlight out.
After he told me this, I unbuckled my seatbelt because I was going to go see for my self if my light was out. But then I had this thought come through my head of "Well, if it's out now it will still be out when I get home". So I quickly buckled back up and stayed in the car.
I got a written warning and was released.
I got the license plate light out warning last month... cop was nice about it, wrote me out a warning ticket, asked me about the bullet hole in my front panel and let me go.

He was already in his vehicle.

What I still havent heard was....why it takes so many police men to get an old man under control? I still haven’t heard why the “old man” chose to not control himself. This is the correct answer. All he had to do was put a bulb in his tail light. My inspection is out, probably have my arse beat tomorrow. Probably be 10 cops when I get pulled over for it. I see the OT's police academy master trainers have come out in force! OT sidewalk attorneys will be lining up next. Never fear, this forum will get all aspects of the situation sorted out, legal and otherwise. I just wonder if that make and year of vehicle even has a tail light bulb? I thought most newer cars had LED's, and their lifespan is at least 15 years. Sounds like Sylvania should be included in the lawsuit for making a bulb that didn’t last the entire expected lifespan.

I made thousands of traffic stops in my time....what you are seeing is officer's working afraid....of everything....afraid of being polite, or at the least, just being quiet when a citizen acts like an [censored] hole.....being loud and aggressive is rarely the right call on a traffic stop anyway, no matter what it is....just do what you need to do, and don't say a damn thing to people like that.....just too much fear, and not enough presence, or prowess....saddens me.....hell if they could beat people up just for being [censored] holes, Wawi couldn't go to the mail box

Best thing to do is what they are telling you.
Cops will over react. They know how quick a situation can turn deadly.

80 % is the ELO's reading the situation and making a decision what to do. They do this a lot in one day, your interaction is just one of many. They have heard everything so you are not new to them. They sometimes read it wrong and things go bad and sometimes its just a over aggressive LEO
I think some of the LEO's shouldn't be doing the job and others just young or immature. I have had a lot of interaction with LEO's all over the country do to my heavy foot. I can say this most State Troopers are very professional. I think most sheriff Deputies are a reflection of the sheriff himself and his policies. I have had more bad interactions with locals then all the rest combined and they are the most aggressive from my personal interaction.
The best way to take the aggression out of the interaction his lights on at night with hands where they can see them and do as they say. You were most likely doing what they say, if you were not you can fight it in court. You most likely won't win, the courts usually believe the LEO. The states counties and cities are broke and need money

Anybody ever get a ticket for a headlight being out? I hit a deer several years ago and it took out a headlight. Got pulled over twice by the same trooper for headlight being out. Can someone please post law requiring 2 headlights.

Most likely covered by law in a Municipal, County, or State defective equipment law. 537.321. of the Texas Transportation code requires two headlights so likely a State Statute. SUBCHAPTER E. GENERAL LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS FOR VEHICLES Sec. 547.321. HEADLAMPS REQUIRED. (a) A motor vehicle shall be equipped with at least two headlamps. (b) At least one headlamp shall be mounted on each side of the front of the vehicle. (c) Each headlamp shall be mounted at a height from 24 to 54 inches.
