I bought a couple of slightly used Daiwa BG 2500 spinning reels from a local guy recently. Last week I used them extensively at Table Rock Lake in Branson, MO. We caught quite a bit of nice fish over 3.5 days and gave them a good workout with no issues. I was impressed with their performance. The aluminum body makes them a little heavier than others with lighter graphite or carbon type bodies but also makes them rigid and strong. The retrieve and drag are smooth. I am working out a minor line lay spool issue with one. I am pleased with them and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. Seems like a durable and quality reel for the price,

I own several BG's ,best damn spinning reel you can buy under $300.That being said the line lay issue you're talking about can most likely be resolved using the spool washers that come with every reel.I've never had to use the washers so I have a nice collection but no 2500's or I'd send you a couple. My smallest reels are Regal LT 3000's and my BG's are 4500-6500's.

If you aren't happy let me know.........I can always use some more white bass/hybrid reels.

I am happy with them! I got the BG reels slightly used so they didn't come with the washers. Daiwa sent me the spool washers at no cost. I am waiting for them to arrive. One has a slight line lay issue and the other doesn't. Exact same reels and line. I expect the washers will fix the minor annoyance and the reels will give me years of good service.
