If you take an Alaska cruise, I suggest you make sure that the ship you're going on is one of the smaller ones. When you go into those bays to see glaciers, those ships have to pull forward and backward a number of times to turn around. Smaller ships do it so much easier. We were on a Holland America ship with a passenger capacity of about 1,400. Great service and we've taken several more cruises with them because of the way were treated on that one.

Also, get a balcony cabin. You are almost never out of sight of land and being able to sit on your "porch" with a cup of coffee or an adult beverage is nice as you watch the shoreline slide by.

took this picture when we did our inland passage cruise...look close and you can see a sea lion on bottom of the buoy and one in water beside buoy............
as mentioned,get a room with a balcony....the scenery is great,I spent hours on the balcony with my binoculars and camera...(carry you a warm jacket,it's cool out there even in summer)....
