Yes, claws will work just fine.I will mention this as I did in your video comments, that Reds are sinker shy.If a Red picks up that heavy weight it will tend to drop the bait and go.To avoid this, rig it Carolina style with the appropriate size weight. Less is better.

Here is how I hook crab claws when surf fishing (scroll down on the page a little). This way prevents your line from spinning and tangling in the current. I've caught many reds with crab claws.
