I see the market adjustments when I do a vehicle search on sites like Cargurus.com, but I have not had any problem getting prices, etc. from dealers in the Dallas/East Texas area at MSRP or $500 below. The problem, of course, is finding the vehicle I want and not having to order something with a 6-9 month waiting list.

My wife needed a new car and we spent a month looking with the only thing matching her wants being in Alabama. Ended up putting a deposit on the Handa CRV that was en route to the local dealer but that the original orderer had backed out of. Only waited about two weeks. Not what we wanted but fully equipped and not a bad vehcile.

On the flip side I saw a beautiful new Ford Bronco in a parking lot and chatted with the owner. They looked all over the South for 2-3 months before locating one at a dealer and buying over the phone along with paying shipping charges. When I asked about the markup and said I had seen them as high as $10K over, the wife just said that was true without any specifics.

No way I am paying even $1K over so I will keep on looking and waiting

1. James Wood GMC

I have bought my last 8 Ram's through Vernon Auto Group. Except for one which we went to Missouri to get because It was either order it and wait, or drive 8 hours and save $10,000. ( That was for a truck for the wife and she is pretty particular, even though she has drove it only about 1,000 miles bang) They are a pleasure to deal with and will still negotiate.

Vernon is who we ordered through back in February. Hopefully it arrives soon.

I get why people are upset, because they absolutely can sell for MSRP. Glad we don't have to deal with any of that here at TMC only having pre owned vehicles. I know a lot of you have sold houses lately for more than you were asking, or what it was appraised for. You list a house for 400k and it brings 500k. I fail to see the difference. Not just because I am in the industry, It just seems the same to me.

They have more buyers than inventory, it's a good time to be a new car dealer. I remember when lot's on this forum were not going to buy a GM product because of the bailout. People quickly forget that type of stuff in my opinion. Carvana just bought the second largest auto auction house in the Country. I think things are fixing to change once again.

just gonna keep my f150 and put in a new engine with an upgrade and transmission when the current go south, have put a ton more miles on it than I thought I would and no way can afford 6-700 a month payments.

Heck, the MSRP itself is a ripoff without without market adjustments Market adjustments just show you how greedy and crooked dealers can be, given the opportunity.

New car dealers taught us for years that MSRP meant nothing and they could discount $10-15k off MSRP and still sell you a car. Now, they want you to believe MSRP is a sacred number and they will ALLOW you to buy a car only at that number. And the dealers wonder why buyers are upset.

Yeah but you know that was mainly due to factory rebates. Obviously the dealer is making money, who would have that kind of exposure if they were not profitable.

6-7-8 dollar gas will put an end to the new car craze. It’s coming sooner rather than later I think

simple solution, ask to see the floor plan pricing and if they won't show that to you just walk out.

my truck msrp was 49,999.00 and I drove it off the lot for floor plan (managing partner of dealership liked me and was a member out here) which was 34,600.00

they still have a lot of wiggle room.

you seem like a nice guy hopalong but that’s pretty dumb. No dealer is going to open their books to show you that.
