Do any of yall file for refund of the taxes on the gas you use in your boat? Can you file more than once during the year? The form # is 06-106 on the Texas Comptrollers website. It will come up if you search for it. Looks like a fairly simple form to fill out.

yes frank, even you can claim it for the 6 gals. you buy a yr.

might want to look at how much our tax is and how much you will get back, I never thought it was worth the hassle.

works good, easy to fill out .
keep receipts, attach legible originals to form with note on receipts that state what it was for .
I/E "lawnmower, weed eater,,boat, golf cart so forth and so on .
send in ,get refund for road use tax.
20 cents per gallon,both gas and diesel.
100 gallons equal 20 bucks back.

Yep. It’s the same for any gas you use at the ranch. My basic understanding is any has being used for stuff that doesn’t use the roadways is eligible for a tax rebate. Just be ready to prove what was boat/ranch vs vehicle if you’re ever audited.

I'm in the landscape business and burn through 60,000 gallons of fuel annually with mowers and small equipment. It wasn't until about 5 years ago that I learned of this tax credit... they dang sure don't promote it. Once annually a fat rebate check comes and it always seems to be right on time! If I'm not mistaken it comes from the dept of treasury? I might be talking about a federal rebate. Our fuel provider handles the paperwork for us so not sure.

Yes sir, once per year. I turn mine in on December 31st. Refund comes out of the the State of Texas Comptrollers Office.

Been doing it for years, pretty easy. You get back about $18-$20 for every 100 gallons you use. You can do it more than 1x per year. I send my form in 2-3 times per year, but you can only claim a refund for fuel used within the last 12 months. I turn in the form and sometimes they ask for receipts and explanations, but most time they do not. Maybe they audit (ask for receipts) on some type of random schedule.

I will say this before you start the process have your stuff in order.

They sometimes will send a guy to meet with you and go over what you plain on claiming .

Sometimes at random. I remember the year I started claiming my refund before I made my first claim they sent a guy.
