Hey guys,

Looking for a good jerkbait specific rod (Vision 110s, 110Jr - mostly +1s). $200ish budget. Was thinking the Shimano Curado Medium 6'10" would be a great option.

Thanks!

Here is a nice Budget option ($120) I have one of these I picked up on sale for under $100.
Rod- St. Croix Bass X 6'8" Medium: http://bit.ly/2r0xWAs

I see a lot of recommendations for this rod.
Rod- Shimano Expride 6'10" Medium: http://bit.ly/2nTq9FL

The Curado might be another budget friendly option. I don't have any experience with Shimano rods.

I was originally going to go for the Expride, but they are virtually impossible to find. So I've ruled that option out. The Shimano Curado seems like a great option. Wonder if there are any good options from Falcon as well.

The Cashion medium, extra fast 7’ rod with the yellow “carbon” grips was supposedly made to throw the 110’s.

I have one…I’ve used it two casts. I bought it to replace a weightless worm rod and I didn’t get what I was looking for. Then I found out it was a jerk bait specific rod.
I don’t throw jerk baits that often, so it sits in it rod sleeve. I should see what all the fuss is about.

Anyone have any experience with the Megabass Levante Jerkbait Special?

The Falcon you're wanting for jerkbaits is the Falcon Cara Casting Rod 6'8" Medium Heavy | CC-5F-168. Jason Christie special. I don't like anything over 7ft for jerk baits because I always end up hitting the side of the boat or my bow graphs with the rod tip. Plus the Cara has a shortened butt end which makes it way easier to work. That said, it's $250 so tough on your budget.

$250 is fine. The other option is the Megabass Levante Jerkbait Special. Same price point and made specifically for Vision 110s

Also the Falcon Cara Jerkbait CC-4-168 looks nice

Think American Legacy Fishing gets a few Expride jerkbait rods in now and then. Got an email from them last week that they were in stock but today looks like they're sold out. The run $280.

I've got a Curado 6'10" MH, good all round rod. The M should be about right for jerkbaits but I haven't fished one.

Guys, I fish JB's a lot. Have tried all different rods. A JB is a special bait that does nothing by itself. A crisp tip is important to create the action. A rod with a soft tip will pull the bait, not twitch the bait The rod must also load into the mid section gradual to prevent hook pull out. I have used all kinds of rods over the years, A generic 7' MH is not what you want. It's too long and will splash the tip in the water if you are fishing your JB correct. I finally bought a couple Mega Bass Orochi jerk bait rods. Mega Bass nailed it with these. I don't like these rods, they are 6'11" and the handle is longer than I like. But, the crisp tip puts magic in a JB and they load into the mid section rather gentle. I get more bites and land more fish than any other rods I have had. Yep, pricey--well worth it.

I’m really tempted to go with the Levante which is one step down from the Orochi. The Orochi is way out of budget, but I can get much of what your saying with that Levante

FYI - just ordered the Shimano Curado 6'10" Medium - I've heard too many good things at this price point to pass it up. Thanks for the help.

I have that curado 6'10 medium. I think it's pretty versatile. It's good for jerkbaits but also for topwaters and I like it for paddletail swimbaits too.

My favorite jerkbait rod is the Dobyns Kaden 610-4 CB.

The only rod I will ever buy for throwing jerkbaits is a $50 ugly stick lite, 7’M.

Absolutely love that rod for jerkbaits and small topwaters.

I’ve spent up to $150 on jerkbait rods and always end up back with the Uglystick.

My Uglystick Academy jerk bait combo is my favorite setup on my boat.

Was just going to recommend this...great rod. Loads up nicely, excellent feel, keeps the fish pinned, and casting distance is amazing.

Had one...had being the key word...caught a nice 4lbr and was in a rush to move rods and in doing so, I sat on the tip. AHAHAHHAH

Will be replacing it soon with the same rod.

I was really close to getting one of these but I couldn’t seem to get much feedback. I’ve noticed when you start asking about mid tier rods the people who chime in tend to have higher tier rods too…so then you go down the rabbit hole of “oh you should buy this $500 G Loomis” haha.

Anyways…we will see how I like this Shimano Curado. I’ve heard great things and it was highly recommended by Tactical Bassin for the money.
