Anyone got a quck fix for a leaking threaded copper hose bib joint? Old house with protruding copper pipe and hose bib. Slow leak around back of threads. Want to avoid shutting off water so looking for a way to seal the wet joint

You could turn the meter off faster than you could go by some product that isn’t really going to work anyways. Just my 2 cents. Kill the meter and fix it.

Gotta ask, why would you try to avoid turning the water off?

Turn off water at the house, remove the faucet, clean and inspect threads rewrap with teflon tape and replace the faucet, turn on the water, and check for leaks. If that does not work call a neighbor, handyman, or plumber.

You could try Teflon Tape or Pipe Dope if it threads leaking and not the soldered area at back of fitting.

Kill the water, pull the valve clean the threads with a wire brush, tape, rectorseal T+2, tape, install new bib, turn water on, drink a beer.

Great excuse to sell the house and buy one without a leaky faucet.

Thanks, Billy

Probably profit at least $300,000 selling it! But the replacement will set us back a cool 1/2 million.
