Hey guys. I'm trying to take my step daughter out crappie fishing on Lake Texoma. Are there crappie and where are some places to start? I'm brand new to the lake and it's a little intimidating. We both live to crappie fish. Thanks.

Yes it has crappie. Right now I’d be looking on shallow brush piles, 6-12’.

What part of the lake do you plan to fish? What kind of electronics do you have? The lake is FULL of brush piles.

If you can get to the south end of the lake, get into the creek at the back of hagerman wildlife refuge. It should be on fire right now. Any banks in the coves protected by the southern wind have lot's of brush piles. The fish on that lake seem to like big baits. I don't know if it's because of the shad size or what, but I use to almost always use a 3in long plastic bait for the most success.

Stick to the south shoreline in the wind! that lake get's bad with any big winds.

look up Dan Langston with River Bottom Boys guide service. he can put you on the fish and show you the lake!

I’ve been on it a few times. Never left Big Mineral! Shallow brush year round on that lake it seems! I’ve caught crappie in 2’ of water in August!

Yep, and to the OP there is a big pile on the north east side of the island outside of Walnut creek. If you can't find that one you are missing 20 keepers this time of year.
