I don't get around as much as I used to, but I have had the need to exit I-35 at Hwy 1304 several times this year.

This is located about 7 miles South of Hillsboro, out in the middle of nowhere.

Someone built a very nice Gas Station/Truck Stop/BBQ Joint on the corner, that is fairly new. On the highway side of the gas pumps, there are about 12 Tesla Charging Stations.

I NEVER go by there, but what there are anywhere between 3 to 8 Teslas sitting there re-charging.

Why There? Midway between Austin and DFW? Is that as far away from the factory as they could get before re-charging? Maybe it's free?

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

I know little to nothing about EV charging, but I do know almost every auto manufacturer is willy nilly turning out new models of EVs daily. My question is, do all EVs use the same charger and the same charging port or are they all proprietary?

Saw quite a few stations in AZ, CA and NV last week at places like Walmart parking lots and hotels.

There were 25 waiting for the slot car charger in Kingman AZ, 45 minutes to charge for less than 300 miles. Those people were stuck like chuck. All had California plates. I got my gas and was gone in six minutes.

Same plug for all level I and level II chargers but there is an adapter.

Out in the middle of nowhere is cheaper to operate. EV's have mapping that shows where they are.
If they have 5 EV's there for 30-40 minutes they are likely to up sell from the store.

I believe we will be seeing a lot more of that as the number of EV's grow. Smart entrepreneurs.

Earlier this year Biden said he wanted to get a project started to put charging stations along all US Interstates. I think it was every 50 or 100 miles.
Privately run but Govt would help with Infrastructure costs.

I wanted to get the contract for I 10 through Texas.

I talked to the owner of a gas station/BBQ restaurant/tourist trap. Tesla owners can charge for free at Tesla charging stations. Tesla approaches gas stations with restaurants and offers to put in the Tesla charging stations for free and pay for the electricity used by having a separate electric meter installed. Since it takes longer to charge a car than it does to fill one up with gas, the Tesla owners will buy food and eat a meal while their car is charging.
