Do you prefer fiberglass?

I wouldn't trade my tin scooter for a fragile fiberglass rig. You can't go where I go, and you can't run over the stuff I run over.

Should call them Ten boats, that's about the mph of wind they can handle in open water.

When you run in three inches of water, wind isn't a problem. I cross deep water twice, once across the intercoastal, and once between two islands in steamboat.

To each their own, if you don’t run in 3” of water and you see rough water a metal boat is awful. Even worst in freshwater on rough texas lakes, first time the wind kicks up unexpectedly you’ll wish you were in a glass boat. They each have their own uses, but I’m on team fiberglass.

I gotta admit, I've been in aluminum boats that will beat you to death on rough water. I took one of my bass fishing buddies out with me in my Excel, and even he was extremely surprised at the ride quality on a fairly rough day on Ray Bob. Zero regrets on buying an Excel.

What makes a boat run smooth, also makes it run deep. No issue on a lake, but in the bay? Not sure how many fiberglass tuna schooners you've tried to push off a sand bar, I can assure you it's nothing you want to do twice. Most of the time navigating shallow water is pretty simple, if the wind is blowing like usual, you know the wave height is 1/2 the water depth. 4" wave is 8" deep, so as long as I stay away from slick shoal water, I'm good. A proper tunnel prop rig knows to avoid white sand. But sometimes you miss your spot.

It's the speed, not the rough water that beats you up. It's simple enough for me to launch closer to my spots and keep speeds comfortable for conditions.

Speed and comfort of fiberglass are great, but they cost a lot more.
