The neighborhood lake I fish is completely surrounded by this slimy grass, hydrilla is starting to fill in around it. The grass extends about 4-5ft deep.

  • I have no background in flipping, but would like to learn it. Is it too early in the year for that?
  • Water temp is 78°, these bright sunny hot days make me think they will tuck in there.

I'm seeing roaming fish out a little deeper on the livescope, but not a decent population of them.

They'll use that type of cover throughout the year. I catch bass punching vegetation even in Jan and Feb. But this time of year, I'd be throwing a frog on that type of vegetation.

Like others said...frog it.

Another secret weapon, well not anymore, if you can still find the Berkley Gulp sinking worm. Those are deadly in slop like that. Slide into the pockets let sink and hold on. Best used on 3/0 or 4/0 hooks and 50 lb braid.

With the blue gill making beds/spawning, I'd also throw a Baby Mann's -1 or similar wake bait on the outside edges.
Agree with frog, flukes, and senkos as previously mentioned.

That looks like a place I would be throwing a Swim Jig or Zoom Magnum Speed Worm.
Then I would go back through flipping.

You better take those coordinates down or the mysterious spray boats will be there. Lol

Oh, and it's never to early to flip grass
