I went to Lake Tawakoni yesterday afternoon and a friend caught this white bass, what is this growth on its tail? I've seen fish with red spots, but never anything like this! ![[Linked Image]](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220509/a6a6ce886de766a60801143845d76cbf.jpg)

Its Tawakoni, probably some form of Meth.

Either a benign nerve sheath tumor called a neurofibroma or Lymphocystis, which is a growth caused by a virus. Would need to be biopsied to tell the difference. Neither are fatal. And yes, I'm a veterinarian.

I don't eat the tails, so it would have gone right into the box
