Cedar Creek crappie fishing has been on fire the last couple of weeks. Water is 70 - 75 degrees and the best concentrations of fish are in 10 - 12 FOW on brush piles. Caught a double limit today. Went out in the morning and caught 30, kept 13 for Mothers day fish fry. Biggest was 1.8lbs, let it go. After cleaning and eating lunch I headed back out in the afternoon to catch some sandbass but didn't have much luck so I switched to crappie and caught 26 in 1 hour, all released. Recent trips: May 7th morning, 30 in 1.75 hrs May 7th afternoon, 26 in 1 hr April 30th, 24 in 2.5 hrs April 29th, 11 in 1.5 hrs April 27th, 28 in 1.25 hrs April 2nd, 14 in 2 hrs ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-114794-138362-livescope.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-114794-138363-1_8lb_crappie.jpg)

Thanks gregpaul. I should have noted, all fish were caught on a ghost minnow thump chubby. I never fish with anything else until August where I'll have to downsize to a 1/32 hair jig for a month or two. I'm not affiliated at all with constantpursuitoutfitters but since I can fish for months at a time without ever having to tie on a different jig, I feel I should call them out: https://constantpursuitoutfitters.com/thump-chubbies/

NIce work sir! Nice post and pictures. That livescope shot - crazy how many on that brush pile.
I agree with you on the jigs = they work and they last.
Tight lines!

Good job Ron!! A heck of a report! Thanks for sharing-one of these days I'll get on cedar creek! How does she "fish" during the summer months?

Nice job! I use the Chubbies and that color pretty regularly myself. I don't believe I know one brush pile on that lake. I always go for the dockshooting fun

Good job Ron!! A heck of a report! Thanks for sharing-one of these days I'll get on cedar creek! How does she "fish" during the summer months? Thanks. The early morning and evening bite is still pretty good in June and July -- I can still fairly regularly catch a limit then. August gets a little slower and I have to downsize to a 1/32 hair jig catch most of my fish between 16 - 25 FOW, 20+ is usually better.

headed there next week for a couple of days , need to practice my dock shooting game. ive never fished a brushpile on CC in the handful of times ive been to CC , always fished docks., going to find and fish some brush this time out.
are you doing better on brush in the main lake or on brush in creek channels and coves off of the main lake?
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Brush on main lake points and humps is all I'm currently fishing. If you side scan a main lake point or hump out here it doesn't take long to find a brush pile or 5. Things are rapidly changing with the heat -- previously I'd been catching better quality fish in 10 - 12 FOW but last weekend I started catching quality fish a little deeper -- found a big school in 18 FOW that is usually good throughout the summer. So they are transitioning to summer patterns, to some extent.

I usually launch near in Mabank, and start at the 181 bridge I believe, on the south end of the lake. been abt 8 years since Ive been to CC. here in central tx the fish are in a 7 to 13 ft range, but with the high UV index, they will gradually go deeper as well. can u recommend a place that has lodging with boat parking, that is close to the lake for an overnight stay for 2 people. preferably on the south end of the lake.
