I have always despised tomatoes. Still to this day I will not touch a raw tomato. I dislike most of the raw veggies that are good for you so I do not force the kids to eat them either. I am lucky if they will touch canned vegies.

My family does not like brussel sprouts. The only time it comes into the house is when I go to the store. My daughter won't touch a bean. As a result we seldom eat them.
I don't complain but its like I am always in the penalty box.

We did a "no thank you" bite for our kiddo. He wasn't a picky eater so if we gave him a "no thank you" bite for him to try and he didn't like it, we just moved on. Again, he wasn't a picky eater so it wasn't a big deal.

Made one of the boys eat asparagus at the deer lease one time. He sandwiched it between two Doritos and ate it. Still likes it that way today.

Mom made us at least take a bite. If we didn't like it, fine, but we had to try. They lied to us a few times about what it was we were trying, which is why we all like escargot. If they'd told us we were eating snails beforehand...yeah, that'd been a no.
I have a niece that until she was 11 years old ate McDonald's mcnuggets and some nasty 'mac n cheese' in some microwavable container with an orange lid. Looked disgusting! Our favorite aunt made a comment about how gross it looked and she finally started eating a few more foods. She is married now and her husband asked her to try 1 or 2 new foods a month when they were dating. She now eats more foods than she used to, but not many. She says it's a texture thing. She likes Tyson's breaded chicken nuggets, but if there is one in the bag that the texture is off, she just buys a new bag and won't finish that one. She's a bit off.
I don't see the point in forcing anyone to eat something they don't like, I do understand wanting them to try it. When I was a cook at the Salvation Army, I would put ranch dressing on asparagus and other things for the kids and they would usually eat it right up.
I also don't understand forcing kids to eat everything on their plates. I believe this is one of the many reasons we are so fat as a society...

We weren't forced to eat anything we didn't want. But if you put on your plate, you ate it. All of it. Dad would not allow any scraps to be left on our plate.
He is truly a sick individual.

I forced my son to eat mac n cheese. He puked all over the table, experiment ended. I don't get people who don't like mac and cheese. My son won't eat it either. it's one of my favorites. Mac & Cheese is so nasty! Will not catch me eating it. Gross!

Encouraged strongly but never forced. I was forced. I hated tomatoes growing up but not now.
Don't like pickles on my burgers but will eat them by themselves.
My middle son won't eat a bean of ANY kind.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I work with a guy that will not eat tomatoes. That is just unAmerican. If I worked with you mark I would be that guy- And I think it’s actually American to be able to not eat what you don’t want to eat- ‘Merica!

What has happed to you does not define who you are-
HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

forced to eat liver/onions many times, won't touch the stuff with a 9' fork now, just plain can't stand it.
boiled yellow squash always looked like snot on the plate, another I won't touch.
will eat pretty much anything that won't eat me first, some things like escargot and gizzards are off the list. not a big fan of eatin innards.

We never had a problem with the boys not trying foods. But, we didn't force them either.
one of my daughter-n-laws makes her kids eat food. AND..... it usually causes an uncomfortable scene. that's when I exit stage left.
Just want to make folks smile, and spit coffee on their keyboard.

Our rule was if you don't want what is on the table, no desert, breakfast is the next meal, go play.
