I have been seriously considering hitting the lakes on Copper Breaks with my tube. I have never fished either of the lakes. From what I have been able to find they are supposed to be pretty good for bass but I don't find any info on the gills. I'm assuming if there are bass there will be gills but I'm curious to the size and numbers of gills. It is a 230 mile round trip drive with diesel selling for $4.89 a gallon here in Amarillo and I'm wondering if it is worth the trip?

Any of you good people have any good intel on the place?

Never fished there Flags. I would hold off until I got some good information on that lake. Just my two cents. 2cents

back in the late 70's, early 80's, i had a bait shop in Crowell, just south of Copper Breaks...went there a few times and fished, caught bass / perch...was a real nice park, small lake so tube fishin' would work gr8...recommended...post your results...

About ten years ago my brother was working out of Vernon and I’d visit him to go flathead fishing. We’d go to Copper to load up on perch for bait.

It was loaded with perch granted we never got any real big ones. We did catch some bass there too. It’s an awesome little lake.
