So we recently bought a little 2010 Triton, did some work on it, and have taken it out to the Cagle area of Lake Conroe about three times. We tried to go to April Marina yesterday but it was so crowded due to a tournament that there was no parking, so we went to Cagle again.
In those three sessions we have only caught one catfish, no bass. We (my wife and I) consider ourselves "ok" bass fisherpeople, we usually catch a few when we go out bank fishing, but no luck on Lake Conroe so far.
So if anyone has advice, I'm trying to figure out:
Bass on Lake Conroe: 1) Are there any good particular areas? We have maps and a Garmin chartplotter on the boat so we can navigate around. We are planning to start trying farther south (seems deeper waters, less submerged timber) 2) Good depth to target, distance from shore? 3) Proven good lures/colors? We normally have our best luck at other venues with crankbaits, rooster tails, and texas rigged worms.
We are new to bass fishing from a boat so it's a learning experience. We aren't looking to win any tournament anytime soon, just catch some nice ones. I've read there are good bass in Conroe so I know they're there we just need to hit on the right methodology and locations.
We were also catfishing yesterday and caught that one on treble/punchbait which didn't take too much effort under the north bridge. Planning a night catfish excursion soon. Any advice welcome there too, but that seems more straightforward and swe still have a bunch of things to try there.

To me Conroe is about finding structure since there is little to no grass. My best advise would be:
1. Fish the structures listed on the TP&W website. There's 22 of them now and review where these are placed as to bottom contours and look for other areas with similar bottoms. 2. May sound old school but purchase a Hot & Line Map. There are 100's of spots listed plus its contains names for the various points / coves in case you don't know the lake that well. 3. Become really good at skipping under docks. 4. My favorite baits are Trick worms and Brush hogs, pick your color.

Lots of good fishing straight across from Cagle in the Jungle area. Would suggest learning that area if in a " little Triton". The fishing south is about to heat up but so are the recreational boats. I get out of the south early and try and stay north of the 1097 Bridge by around 10 am on the weekends. Good luck...that lake can be awesome one day and dead sea the next.

Good advice, thanks guys. Sounds like the cagle area is still a good area to target. I'll try some of the maps suggested for structure and hot spots. Looking them up now. I've also been using the FishBrain app for saltwater fishing, I'll check out what hotspots are shown there. I'll try the Trick Worms and Brush hogs too.
My little triton is a 2010 TC17, we like it.
We're also going to try for some more focused catfishing, there's got to be some good ones under those bridges.
