Catfish Tim and Bluecat Bob ride again! I finally pried BCB off of his motorcycle and got him back on the water. He is gonna have to work on his priorities... All kidding aside it was great to have him back in the boat. We are on our farewell tour with Sandy Too. Her new owner will be picking her up in a few weeks. I hope she takes as good a care of them as she has me. Beautiful morning albeit a little chilly. Wind was up pretty good to start but is was fickle as it would blow and then stop and then blow and then stop. Mostly SE but would pull around to the SW now and then. I'd put the sock out and the wind would lay and our planer boards would close in. I'd pull the sock out and the wind would start blowing again. Hard to find a pattern. We started out tied up to the trees up north of highland park. Wind had us bouncing around pretty good and we only managed one small fish so we moved to another spot up there. Kept getting dink bit so we decided to go south and drift the Brockdale flats. Had a good takedown and BCB boated a decent fish at 16.5 pounds. Sadly that would turn out to be the only decent fish of the day. We managed a total of 7 fish, six of them 4 pounds or under. But it was a beautiful day on the water. And it was such a blessing to be able to be out there in the fresh air and sunshine. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/04/full-115968-137277-bcb_4_27.jpg)

Another great day on the water with my buddy Catfish Tim!
It's weird, but given the lake is full again after the recent rains I thought the bite would be fully on, but as Tim reminded me, they call it fishing not catching for a reason!
I assumed with the spring here it would be all anchor fishing from here on in into summer, so Tim had to put me straight on that. We put the boards out again.
To add I did get one BIG take down, you know, when the rod hits the water and you can't get it out of the rod rest, but it came unhooked and got off. Sigh. It was a big fish for sure, and I'm thinking it may have been down to me swapping my 8/0 hooks for 4/0. I have now swapped them back to the big ones.
We got chatting like we normally do, putting the world to rights, and I mentioned I think the appeal of cat'n is the primitive quest for the big fish. It really is hunting, but the difference being we put the prize back alive.
There is nothing better than a day on the water.
Thanks to Tim for another day soaking baits.

Great post. Good to see you guys getting out and sending Sandy Too off with a little more slime! It's crazy that it's just a few days from May and you guys still needed long sleeves! This has been a strange spring for sure.

Geno, we will pay for these nice cool mornings soon. Very soon. And we will be begging for a little taste of the wind we are cursing this month...

Great post. Good to see you guys getting out and sending Sandy Too off with a little more slime! It's crazy that it's just a few days from May and you guys still needed long sleeves! This has been a strange spring for sure. It started out cold (I had my winter camo hoodie jacket on) but it warmed up nicely. I actually got quite sun burned yesterday, especially my nose, but that's par for the course when you have a big 'conk' like I do - lol! That crazy wind yesterday was enough to drive you nuts. At one stage I had no less than 3 rigs get tangled up....urgh. It doesn't happen very often but I fear I may have expanded the skippers vocabulary somewhat yesterday,...

BCB, I have 4 children and 9 grandchildren. Nothing you do could make me say anything I haven't already said a hundred times...
