How do these companies ever make a profit? Was at a new site in Portland, we're a year and a half behind schedule, didn't matter to us, everything was paid for, but I do like to have stuff up and running. Just not going to happen today.

Last week, site engineer was sending panicked emails, we gotta go, this has got to be up and running, yak yak....We can do our part, is the electrical finished and tested? Yes. All ready. Did you get your fuel delivery? Be here tomorrow. Ok, great see you Monday.

Monday....it's raining. Start tomorrow. Ok, fine, we're all seasoned enough to bid the job by the hour, you want to waste time? Nobody is going to complain.

Show up this morning, do basic run through, no power. Breakers look fine, everything is turned on, no power. It's a crisis. Call in electricians, yep, no power. They have a meeting. Pull out diagrams. Meet again. It's missing a jumper here. Ok, get it in and let's go. Oh my no, we have to get a work order, then a permit, then put this on the schedule. 5 1/2 hours later, jumper installed, we have power. Ok, start testing and setting up. Somethings wrong, tank is showing empty. Oh yeah it's empty, they're showing up Friday. Arghhh. How can you even function? Amazing. And yet they're shipping polymer. Train loads of it. Amazing again.

Convention of electrical experts.

We do a ton of blasting in plants. A lot of oxygen thieves working in them for sure.

I am gonna guess no. The jumper wouldn't have gotten done same day if union.

Sounds like my job, tell the Engineers what is wrong & how to fix it, off to a meeting they run. Fast forward 2 hours......they come up with something brilliant, we laugh, try their brainstorm, epic fail . They run off to another meeting and when they return, it's all fixed and working. They ask what changed, we shrug and say it just started working...carry on. When actually it was a whole lot of magic.

Having worked it power plants for the last 25+ years I'm sometimes amazed that when I get home and flip the switch I have lights... A lot of them are held together with duct tape and silicone... Dan

I think the one that sticks out to me the most was a site everybody was screaming to get out too . I had trouble finding it and passed it like 6 times before I started making phone calls and finally found it ..... it was a basically a pile of dirt and they were just now getting it leveled out 🤣🤣🤣. More phone calls later the conversation pretty much went “so you want me to hang the doors over by the porta Jon or dozer ?” They didn’t think it was as comical as I did .
