Got my paper work for a bonded title after my second trip to the Ft.Worth region main DMV office yesterday .$17.00. Was informed by my insurance office the minimum cost will be $100.00. So for this is what the cost of getting a 12 ft. home made trailer I got with my jon boat has cost . This is a Texas law since 2020 for getting a title for a home made trailer .Since the only way to get tags is to go thru this B S !
Get the Mansfield PD Task force to inspect it - $40.00 -had to wait 30 days for a opening .
Get it weighed on a scale - $7.00
Take it to a trailer sales place and get appraised. NC
Take 3 pictures on your phone and e mail the to DMV office
Take the day off again and wait for hours at the DMV office ??
Pay for a bonded title $100.00
Take the bonded title to the tax office to get tags ??
And I have to put the new ID numbers on the frame .

I hope its not like that for boat trailers now. Not home made

Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state.
But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

It's political. Politicians, need to support their constituents ( donors) (trailer manufacturers)

Love my Lund, but if I ever leave Alabama I will sell it and buy another boat when I get to where ever I'm going.

Yesterday when I finished the lady helping me at the Ft Worth office and I were talking about how the new changes are so bad . I know it is to help in people stealing trailers and calling the home made to get a tag . But like I told her , If I would have known all this it would be cheaper to just get a ticket for no tags ! . But then maybe with no ID number or tags they could take your trailer ? Now as the little 65 lone Star has a title also my next step is trying to find a 10 horse motor with a title LOL

I have a little cargo trailer that we use for BBQ cooking comps that isn't tagged or registered. Buddy got it from his BIL that passed away about 5 years ago. We were just talking this weekend about what its going to take to get it registered. Sounds like since it has a VIN on it, it may be more of a pain in the [censored] than its worth.

When you go before the task force they look for a number . Can not tell you what they do if they find one . It is just insane the amount of foot work and the cost to do this .

A friend of mine got a ticket at Diablo east on Amistad for having farm trailer plates on his boat trailer. He couldn’t find his boat plate, so just took one off of a stock trailer that he owns.
