These rods are equipped for using bait casting reels (notice the trigger on the handle). The code on the handle reads "C" for casting models. On spinning models the code will read "S" for use of spinning reels. The birthplace of this line originated in the PNW of Washington State, otherwise known as the Pacific Northwest.

I love using the "S" models for whipping, a term used for spin casting from the shorelines. That line started with the Okuma T-40X series that had user friendly releases such as Float Drift, Side Drift, Steelhead Spin, etc. In fact i had all the spinning "S" models and a few "C" Casting models as well.
