Hey just moved here from NYC, in NYC I've fished for stripers off of bridges and shorelines and such and such. I've noticed that there are a lot of places where you can fish for stripers. However, they're very far from me. A few places I've seen are lake Somerville and lake water E long (I live in cedar park moving to the thrall area). Any good places for shoreline fishing?

This time of year the shad are spawning and it's a good time to bank fish for stripers and white bass. Look for big white birds lined up along the shore near shallow water, especially in the mornings. At Whitney, I catch stripers and whites both up in shallow water, 2 to 4 feet deep. I'm usually in my boat, but those same fish could definitely be caught from the bank. Rat-L traps, white and chartreuse jigs, kastmasters, Lil George's, etc.

Right now on Lake Belton. you can fish the shoreline at Arrowhead park/Temple park and catch whites at sun-up. I saw a lot of fisherman at 6am last weekend with lights out and know the shad are running the shoreline. I cannot speak about any other lake. But bankfishing can be a blast during a shad spawn.
