Made it back from the river late Sat night and finally getting around to the report! Hat's off to Clay on this one as I had to work a couple days and didn't get to prefish but one day with him but we went to a spot similar to his best place and they were there too! We fished 4-6' in thick timber in oxbows with 11' Kevin Rogers Jenko rods and Slab Syndicate 1/4oz jigs in Showtime and Gingertruce to catch all our fish. They had their noses stuck in the timber and you really had to work to get them interested in the bait. No live bait was allowed and I think that's a great rule!

Natchitoches is a cool town and it was a trip down memory lane for me as I graduated college there in 1998! We had a pretty good lead after day one but the wind was gonna kill us day two but that's where the winning fish were so we decided we were gonna catch em and win or not and lose! It was the most nerve wracking day on the water we've probably had in a long time! Missed bites, losing 3 fish, broke one off! We tried like heck to lose but managed to cull out a .66 with a 1.47 and a .79 with a 1.23 in the last 20 minutes to seal the deal. Taking waves over the bow and bouncing off trees the entire time! I still didn't think we had it till Wesley and Justin weighted in and I did the math after that and thought we maybe pulled it out! No way we could have fished like we did all day in the wind without the Gyll lithium batteries from David and Shut up and Fish! We ran em hard all day.

Thanks to everybody that makes this possible! Rend Lake, Illinois is next! I have a couple days left open the end of June and some July availability if your wanting to get after the slabs!

I know I'm getting old, but when did crappie fishing become big time with tournaments with winners and losers?

I'm 46 and there's been crappie tournaments as long as I can remember? The sport has definitely grown though lately! I'm excited the direction it's headed!

Slewfoot you guys killed it out there and was a well deserved win. We only practiced 1 day of the official practice with not much to show and glad we were able to walk away with a top 5. Look forward to fishing against you guys in October.
