Wind is your friend??? There’s chunking rattle traps on a windy point with a 15mph wind blowing in on the point and then there is 3 solid months straight of nonstop “sustained winds of 25mph with gusts to 40mph”! This spring “WIND HAS NOT BEEN MY FRIEND”!!!

I ran my trolling motor batteries almost to nothing fishing a tourney yesterday. Spot lock couldn’t hold the boat any longer in 20-25mph. It was ramping up to 9-9.5 on prop speed to hold the boat. By 2:20, it wasn’t holding. Just slowly drifting backwards with the wind.

Today was nice till around 11:00. Then I loaded up and went back to the house.

I was expecting rain this morning, so after the tourney on Grapevine I washed the boat really good and put it in the garage.

2 days on Grapevine for me and just 3 white bass to show for it. Partner caught a couple of LMB keepers to keep us honest while I was dealing with a bad stomach morning!

Wind was down in the mid to high 20mph range today, only gusts were over 35mph. It's nice out

I've been on Cooper twice this weekend burning up old gas and doing some research on locating LMB's If you put in at Tira or the South Sulphur unit and fish the south side of the lake; even with a moderate to strong south wind, it really isn't that bad. The areas I fished the timber provides quite a bit of protection from the wind.

Just don’t put in on an unprotected north ramp like I did this morning. Whew! That was exciting!

We were fishing Hall's Bayou today, throwing parallel to the reed lines. On one side of the bayou, you had to literally throw your crankbait over the reeds to get it to land somewhere close to where you wanted it to.The big curve cast.
