Three of us are going down to fish for whites on Sam Rayburn in early June. We have never been there and don't recall seeing any reports for Sam Rayburn. Has any of you fished for whites there, and do you have any intel on where to fish for them in the main lake, i.e what are the main structures, is there a map of fishing spots, do they surface much there? Any info would be appreciated.

Wish I could help. It's a very very big lake that has some very dangerous open water underwater structure. Be careful!

Check out Jackson Hill Marina. They rent out cabins and rvs or have camping areas also.If you go to the left out of the marina Jackson Hill Point is on your left.Gteat spot for white and black bass.If you go on around to the left you will see the 147 bridge.I troll up and down right out side the pilings and catch plenty of nice sized white bass.I use jet divers and attach a pet spoon about 1 1/2 to 2' back. The whites love them pet spoons. If your into jigging watch your depth finder as you run up and down the pilings and you will mark brush piles. They are great places for white bass and crappie.Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks for the info ROCKMAN51. How deep must the water be for vegetation not to be growing on it? I like to fish submerged humps and points with sandy bottoms and work baits right on the bottom. Is there vegetation 10 ft down, 15 ft, or even 20 ft down?

When the water warms up which it will be when yall get there usually you will find them in 20' or deeper. The lake has a lot of hydrilla but it is concentrated in certain areas. There will be some bushs here and there. Before you get to the bridge there are some large islands/humps on the Jackson Hill side depending on level of the lake.Early morning and late evening you can see them schooling on top if the lakes not to chopped up.This lake seems to on average put out some good size fish.Tipping my cup to ya.

I’ve never fished Rayburn proper, but White Bass typically make a strong run up the Angelina during the spawn and they are nice size fish. So after the spawn, they have to go home and should be waiting on you!! Hope you catch a bunch. By the way, I really appreciate your detailed reports, maps etc!!
