So, I got on Ray Bob about 2 weekends ago and this is a little bit of a vent - ok, it is a full-blown vent. I was only out about 5 hours and landed 3 totaling about 7 pounds and 3:30 rolls around and I decide to call it day as the boat snacks just weren't going to hold me over. So I head to the ramp at Isle Du Bois to load back up.

Here comes the vent - I would say that nearly every "bass" boat would come in flying and then hit the proverbial water break right at the no wake buoy's; throwing huge wakes into the ramp area. After about 7 boats, the whole place was just churning and for those that have a boat buddy to drop off, not that big of a deal. For those of us that are solo launching and loading it is a big deal. It is dangerous for our boats and the people. Shutting down 20 yards shorter would maybe cost you 5 seconds if that. And if you really can't give up 5 seconds coming off the lake, then you're probably a inconsiderate [censored]. I understand wanting get off the lake and not wanting to wait for others who got in front of you - but seriously, think risk and reward, not just for yourself but for the fellow boaters/fishermen.

So please, take a moment to be a little more considerate, because your actions can lead to serious issues for others. Have, be safe and don't be a [censored].

I'm done - thank you.

P.S. for the guy and his buddy who literally cut me off into the ramp area by maybe 30 feet to get to the front of the line - piss off.

One of the main reasons I have a trolling motor with spot lock. So I don't have to tie up to the dock, and be the victim of some dilrod throwing a wake into the ramp area, and scratching up all the tied up boats, because the bumpers are never in the right place to stop it.

Bass boats can be a real hazard. been thinking about making a "don't be a basshole" tee shirt. At Lake Fork those bass boats with the 300 HP motors zip into the no wake zone at the bridge creating a big wake then take off like a dragster once out of the zone making a second wake.

I feel your pain. At least we get a variety of annoyances on the lake. Between Jet fleas, Grandkid pullers and Bassholes ya gotta stay on your toes.

No argument with your little rant. I wish more boaters would slow down when approaching no wake zones.

At Fork last year was just as you said. They shut it down last moment. A freakn guide as though he owns he entire lake. The wake was right on me and had wife with me . I can just say that if I didn't turn boat away would have rolled right in on her. If he hadn't of had some young kids and dad with him the crazy would have come out. I see the lack of respect and character running wild these days.

The really stupid ones run about 5 ft. out side the markers from one end of the bridge to the other!!!!! DMF's.

I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

Dang! And here all this time I thought people were looking at me because they thought my boat and how I drove it was really cool!

While I agree 100%, if these boat owners are shutting down, before they pass the buoy, and the wakes are still a problem, then this rant should really be aimed at the improper placement of the buoys.

Cutting folks off ain’t cool either. If your in a hurry, then head in a little earlier.

What I see on Lewisville is the waker board type boat running parallel to the 35 bridge wrecking the crappie guys trying to fish. Boaters idling under the bridges are subject to 3+'rollers head on. Bass boats put out a very small wake compared to the others, imo.

While I can't say for certain whether buoys are correctly placed at every location, I can say with certainty that when I'm fishing on my kayak inside a buoy-marked area, I see way too many boats come powering through the buoy line throwing up a huge wake before they finally slow down. On the plus side, it gives me practice handling rough waters with the yak

My first Ranger had a place about 3 feet long in the top cap on the port side cracked in it because some yoyo in a bay boat pulled that on me while I was sitting near a concrete piling in a no wake zone. Instead of coming off plane he slowed down just enough to fall halfway off plane throwing a massive wake at me. At the time I did not know that he was responsible for the damage on my boat, or I would have gotten his boat tag number and reported it to the local GW.

In all my years on the water it like the last five the real a**holes have showed up. I am surprise there has not been a killing at the ramps. I have seen so many rude people on and around the ramp that think they are the only one around. Last week I had a guy cut me off as I was backing down to launch, and went I honked at him he shot me the bird. The G W should write ticket for the wake wave in the no wake zone, maybe then people would learn how to come in the right way, after all it's a no wake zone.

I just figured that the situation will continue to get worse at public boat ramps / public waters, and that I can only change my behavior- and not that of other people!

So for many years now I just go out when, and where there won't be crowds, and with watercraft that doesn't require a boat ramp for my excursions, haha! Having a large power boat was costing me precious time, $$$$, and most of all- peace of mind, during crowded water conditions.....

Ramps gotten as bad as fishing these days with the 250+HP bass boats going 60MPH every-time they move to a spot....literally see and feel them every-time they move, slamming the throttle, and going to a spot and making a 4 ft wave into they're new spot...then cast a few and slam it to another spot....then come in hot to the ramp....

They've asked how was the fishing...I usually say awesome even when you were testing your new boat out there, you going to buy it?...

happens at Ray Hubbard too.. Tawokoni is the worst experience by far.. even had a dip^^^^** come up on me while i was anchored, yelling and cursing at me for being in his trolling lane..did not know that there was a designated lane for " trollers only " in the middle of Waco bay.. do not know where this has started but i can almost garauntee that there will be some boaters who get shot for acting a fool out on the water. If it hasnt already happened yet

Ray Roberts is not user friendly at the boat ramp , most of the time the ramp is 3 feet off on the water .

sometimes it goes the other way too, my mercury bit the big one yesterday while fishing the legend of fork so had to come in on trolling motor.

got the mustang resort ramp and a solo guy with a nice center console pulled by a jeep rubicon was getting ready to launch. I walked up and got in the truck, pulled up ready to wait on him and he waves me by. I was way on the side of the ramp so there was plenty of room for both of us but he let me battle with trying to load with no power and backed in as I was pulling up.

next time I see him I am gonna offer to buy lunch or something, not many folks will do that for ya even when you are broke down.

so guy in the grey rubicon with the nice skeeter center console, huge thank you for bein a good dude.

Not to call you uninformed, that you're embellishing your story or just plain stupid, but I do not think a bass boat can make a 4 foot wake, much less one traveling 60MPH on it's pad.

This.
It's got to where a bass boat is just a wake boat with a trolling motor and $10,000.00 worth of electronics, including stereos, on it. Not in all cases, but many.

I’ve had a good run of decency on the water for approx 30 years. All good things come to an end…….time for me to go buy a tractor instead. Yesterday, wifey and I was at GV walking and I looked across the lake at all the boaters out there, and literally had a relieving sigh that I knew I had no place out there anymore. It was kind of an out of body, euphoric feeling….

While I agree 100%, if these boat owners are shutting down, before they pass the buoy, and the wakes are still a problem, then this rant should really be aimed at the improper placement of the buoys.

Cutting folks off ain’t cool either. If your in a hurry, then head in a little earlier.

This. They would literally throw less wake if they buzzed through on plane, not that I want that either. Wet [censored] sucks. Sucks more in the cold weather months.
